So the first week of training is done! Yay! Finally got through it. The first week is the worst, and the second is still tough but by the third I’m usually in the general swing of things. So pleased to have gotten over the first hurdle. I have tried to get over the first week for the past three weeks, but it was warm, and I felt de-motivated. But have finally gotten motivated again! Plus the cooler weather helps.
I think part of the struggle was after my holiday in Japan, I ate a load of junk food and just was spiralling downwards and getting lazy. Even before Japan my eating habits were rubbish. Japan was amazing, and I spent a night in a shisha bar, smoking, which also hasn't helped with getting back into it! However, I'm back on the healthy eating train. Lots of green smoothies and salads, as well as getting my protein in. Of course I'm still having the occasional treat ;) I am feeling so much better already and my times are improving.
I'm finally feeling good about running again! I also think that the bad weather the UK has helped. I can’t run in the summer sun. It kills me. I am definitely a winter runner, plus pollen doesn't help either, I do much better running in the summer when there is a low pollen count. But should be going into winter soon, which is my favourite time to run, well, until it snows!
I am training myself up using the Nike+ app's coach function, which I have used before with my half-marathon training, and I absolutely love it and totally recommend. They have training from a 5k to a marathon, with everything in between and different difficulties for each distance. So there is bound to be something for your fitness level. I also love the end of week summary it gives you at the end of training, which is posted above.
Have 19 miles to do this week, which should be easy enough. I am already worrying about the runs further than 8 miles, even though they are weeks away. But I think as long as I have a good music playlist in my ears I'll be fine. I have gotten up to half-marathon distance, and I am sure I can train myself up to 26 miles, as terrifying as that sounds! Also I can’t wait to see my times start to go down again. When I started my half marathon training I was running 10 min miles and ended almost sub 9 min miles. So can’t wait to progress with that.

Hope everyone is having a good day!
